Kelton, oldest son of Fernando and Sophia Kelton, served
with the 95th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and lost his life at the Battle
of Brice's Crossroads, near Guntown, Mississippi.

Save the Flag Carried
by the 95th Ohio Volunteer Infantry
The
Kelton House has adopted a flag from the Ohio Battle Flag Audiovisual
Collection at the Ohio Historical Society. The Guidon of the 95th Ohio
Volunteer Infantry will be placed on the Society's priority conservation
list when donations reach $1,000.
You can join the members of the Kelton House Civil War Sesquicentennial
Planning Committee by donating to the "Save the Flags Campaign"
at the OHS.
Please send your gift to the Ohio Historical Society/Save the Flags Campaign,
1982 Velma Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43211. Indicate you are donating to
the conservation of the 95th O.V.I. Guidon.

Ed Lentz, Columbus's pre-eminent historian, will present a slide
lecture about Columbus as it evolved after almost a year of war. Attendees
will learn about Columbus's residents, businesses and institutions as
they respond to a country torn in two. Limited seating is available. Reservations

Courage and the Civil War: Presented by the Imaginating
Dramatics Company

Come see this child-friendly play with music that dramatizes the
effect of war on children.
Kids, Courage and the Civil War utilizes the words of children
from the North and South recorded in journals as its source and is accompanied
by music from the Civil War period. Appropriate for children 4 and over.
The performance is presented by the Imaginating Dramatics Company of Grandview
Heights, Ohio, a children's theatre academy where children ages 4-18 perform
for children and adults. Performers learn drama, comedy, musical theatre
and improvisations.
Refreshments will be served and tours of the Museum will be available
from 1-3 p.m.

Women during the Civil War

active during the Civil War.
Susie King Taylor who nursed with Clara Barton; Elizabeth Keckley, dressmaker
and confidant to Mary Todd Lincoln; Charlotte Forten, college graduate
and first African-American to teach freed men in the South; Harriet Tubman,
Sojourner Truth, and others . . . come to life in a first-person telling
of their unique experiences during the war that ripped a nation apart.
